Reflections368 viewsThe Red Bud reflection in Buffalo Mountain Camp pond makes us pause to remember where we were August 6, 2012.
Don't pause too long, this pond will be filled with Kayaks and energized kids before you can say "What Flood?"

Most Eastern?335 viewsThis waterfall is located at: N36.60942 W081.67726 and I'll betcha it is the most Eastern Waterfall in Tennessee.
To qualify on this site it must be 8 ft high or more. Can you find one more to the East and still be in Tennessee?

Craftsman737 viewsMet this kind man near Dayton, TN. While having a hard time photographing Sandhilll Cranes he saw us and invited us onto his property.
He was such an interesting fellow I forgot to photograph the Cranes. Study this face and you will find a personality that is rare today.
He gave us the tour of his property, which includes a woodworking shop of beauty.
As soon as he contacts us we willl add him permanently to the web site and see if we can show off some of his craft.

First Trip 348 viewsBJ made her first trip to the bottom of Linville Gorge. She sure was a great hiking pal.
Actually she had no trouble and we had energy to see the Plunge Pool.
If you are reasonably fit and visiting Western North Carolina, you should go down to the gorge. After the crowds go home and during the work week this is a wonderful place to sit in awe of what time and water has wrought.

Panther?408 viewsCould this possibly be a Rock Island State Park Panther?
Since being ordained a Tennessee citizen, way back in 1976 I have heard the stories about panthers that lurk in the mountains.
This was sighted right out our back door when we checked in at the park.
Should I have listened to Lou and not risked our life and limb by checking in after dark in a place where waterfalls emerge from cliffs, but have no visible river?
To find out, check under Planes, Trains and Odd things, Critters answer no. 2

Charlie 801 viewsWe met Charlie on Little Stony Creek Trail accompanying his friend down a very cold trail.
After making sure we were no threat he assumed his watch atop the back pack. When his transportation knelled down Charlie took his post atop the back pack. No, he did this willingly of his own accord. Dec 31, 2014

Coast Guard Brat!707 viewsOne of these fine folks we met up Little Stony Creek turned out to be a Coast Guard Brat.
Oh don't get upset, that is a term of endearment for offspring of members of the Coast Guard family.
As soon as I get first names they will become members of our crew.
