Rock Island Panther_1200x900.jpg
Panther?2352 viewsCould this possibly be a Rock Island State Park Panther?

Since being ordained a Tennessee citizen, way back in 1976 I have heard the stories about panthers that lurk in the mountains.

This was sighted right out our back door when we checked in at the park.

Should I have listened to Lou and not risked our life and limb by checking in after dark in a place where waterfalls emerge from cliffs, but have no visible river?

To find out, check under Planes, Trains and Odd things, Critters answer no. 2

Summers Come And Gone2352 viewsA wild pony of Grayson, kind of beat up from battle, and dread of Winter on his face.

Promise Of Remewal2366 viewsOut of the mud and rubble comes beautiful things.

As this Trillium blooms with the return of Spring, so will Buffalo Mountain Camp bloom.

Xray Falls2367 viewsSince it is 80 ft tall, beautiful and un listed on the map of DuPont Forest State Park, NC. we decided to let it be our new favorite

Reflections2376 viewsThe Red Bud reflection in Buffalo Mountain Camp pond makes us pause to remember where we were August 6, 2012.

Don't pause too long, this pond will be filled with Kayaks and energized kids before you can say "What Flood?"

Wood Snake?2267 viewsNo such thing as a Wood Snake? Maybe a Copper Head, quiet common around here?? So, don't zoom in or enlarge the photo, make a guess what type snake this is.

Is too a Wood Snake.......... Zoom in and see. What the hay, I thought it was a snake and I was there with it, just below Lower Clear Branch Falls. Started to whack it with the Roaming Knob buuuut, nobody was looking so i just kind of eased on out.

Should have stopped right there, but this was too good to keep to myself.

Good Rep For the Van Fleet Trail2804 viewsMet this pleasant fellow while biking on the James A Van Fleet Trail of Florida. He filled us in on the history of the trail.

The trail is over 29 miles long and straight as it cold be. Great place to see wild life.

Charlie 2764 viewsWe met Charlie on Little Stony Creek Trail accompanying his friend down a very cold trail.

After making sure we were no threat he assumed his watch atop the back pack. When his transportation knelled down Charlie took his post atop the back pack. No, he did this willingly of his own accord.

Coast Guard Brat!2625 viewsOne of these fine folks we met up Little Stony Creek turned out to be a Coast Guard Brat.

Oh don't get upset, that is a term of endearment for offspring of members of the Coast Guard family.

As soon as I get first names they will become members of our crew.

Craftsman2647 viewsMet this kind man near Dayton, TN. While having a hard time photographing Sandhilll Cranes he saw us and invited us onto his property.

He was such an interesting fellow I forgot to photograph the Cranes. Study this face and you will find a personality that is rare today.

He gave us the tour of his property, which includes a woodworking shop of beauty.

As soon as he contacts us we willl add him permanently to the web site and see if we can show off some of his craft.

This old pony has a few too many battles in his past and looked dejected with the chilly Fall winds blowing.
