Ami and Shannon2380 viewsMost hikers know it is not so much the trail as those who hike the trail.
Shannon, on the left, is a Nurse Lou and I met descending to the falls at Glen Burney park in Blowing Rock, NC.
Reaching the falls is no "Walk In The Park" but, these two were so determined they brought along flash lights just in case of nightfall before completion.

Should have called this Lost Creek2379 viewsAfter leaving the Freewill Baptist Camp (really niece folks) the creek suddenly went into a spring??? After becoming acquainted with all the down pines on the mountain side we blundered into where the creek disappeared into the ground, yep, just soaked in the ground. This is not a trickle but, a pretty good creek and it went underground to the spring. footnote: Only springs I saw in the Coast Guard ere made of metal.

Big Falls2376 viewsMount Hardy Falls is measured at over 100 ft and even though it was a dry spell still had pretty good water.
This is a MST trail falls and is not hard to get to but, has some laurels and of course slick rocks.

This very day, Sep. 7 2011 two cougars were killed by the Wildlife folks very near our location.
One News report stated they were backed up by the RCMP for crowd control ??? What the heck were they doing, preventing a stampede back to Victoria?
Actually, old Wally here (a name I gave to this obviously dangerous critter) showed up on our B&B lawn and started to explain the rules of engagement to BJ and Myself.
BJ defended her crew, namely me, admirably.
