This site is dedicated to waterfalls, mountains, an old aviators memories, with lots of poetic liberties, some just plain made up, and interesting places to visit.

Wood Snake?2419 viewsNo such thing as a Wood Snake? Maybe a Copper Head, quiet common around here?? So, don't zoom in or enlarge the photo, make a guess what type snake this is.

Is too a Wood Snake.......... Zoom in and see. What the hay, I thought it was a snake and I was there with it, just below Lower Clear Branch Falls. Started to whack it with the Roaming Knob buuuut, nobody was looking so i just kind of eased on out.

Should have stopped right there, but this was too good to keep to myself.

Water Cave2419 viewsSteele Creek goes under this big rock, forming a foam whirlpool.

Views from this vantage point are the reason I give Steel reek Falls a *** rating. Note the rope on the rock. This is a very slick area so use the rope to hold on.

This little area can definitely clean your family gene pool.

River Wall2418 viewsNo, I didn't mean to say river walk. That really is a wall built in the edge of the river.

i would guess, due to it being located in the curve of the river, it prevents the railroad from being washed out.

Too much rain in the mountains makes great waterfalls but, is devastating to railroads that run along the banks of the river.

Dugger 42417 viewsThe water from between the crack,. lower down was not apparent with te naked eye.

The light was a waterfalls photographer's dream, dark.

Another Pretty Face2415 viewsCould not resist photographing this little cascade just upstream from Bard Falls, located on the Mountains To Sea Trail.

If you have not hiked the MTS Trail, you need to. The trail is so well kept it turns difficult into "just plain pretty'.

CG 12752414 viewsI flew on Coast Guard 1275, depicted here making a water landing.

It now resides, sadly, in the BONE YARD in Arizona .

Cool Mountain 2414 viewsWhen looking at my camera download for Dugger I discovered little sprays and jets from beneath the rocks that were not that visible with the eye.

It was 72^ F when I left the parking lot but, 101^F when I arrived in Charlotte.

AC2413 viewsNot as old as the Old Albatross but, a lot more bossy.

This image is at Lower Higgins Falls.

New And Fresh2413 viewsBeside the clear cold creek these flowers burst forth announcing the return of Spring to Buffalo Mountain Camp.

Lower Panthertown Creek Falls2413 viewsThe hike to the lower falls is pretty easy until the turn off below The Great Wall, then there is nothing that can be called a trail, just a few faded ribbons and a few clips.

This 0.2 mile bushwhack through a recent controlled burn I would rate difficult for those not accustomed to Bushwhacking.
